This old Donald Trump income tax tweet isn’t aging well

A tweet sent by now-President Donald Trump in 2012 pointing out that many Americans don’t pay their income tax resurfaced after a New York Times report published on Tuesday. The Times found that more than decade ago, the president was able to legally avoid paying income taxes because of declared losses. As the investigation puts it: The numbers show that in 1985, Mr. Trump reported losses of $46.1 million from his core businesses largely casinos, hotels and retail space in apartment buildings. They continued to lose money every year, totaling $1.17 billion in losses for the decade.
